Even now when I visit a temple, I ask my daughter to drop the offerings into the "hunDi" and tell her that that way, it will be used for the temple and not by the poojari.
But recently I was recently discussing the state of temples in India versus the state of temples in the US. I was amazed when I googled to find that a major portion of the hunDi collections is not used for the temple upkeep - and on the other hand it is being used to promote other religions. I have started this discussion to invite
(a) Your views - this being a flammable topic by nature, please avoid extra spice when you write comments
(b) Has anyone filed an RTI application asking for relevant info? If yes, would you please share it with us? Or would someone raise an RTI query with the Mujrahi department and give us the report? You can scan it and publish it here.
I will ask people from other religions (non-Hindu) to please desist from commenting this blog only, unless it is a constructive comment. We need more light than heat here, though I am the first to admit that where you have light, there has to be some heat!!
